DOCOMOMO (International Working Party for Documentation and Conservation of Buildings, Sites and neighbourhoods of the Modern Movement) on 1989 perustettu kansainvälinen modernin arkkitehtuurin tutkimus- ja suojelujärjestö. Järjestöön kuuluu työryhmiä yli 40 maasta, myös Suomesta. Suomen DOCOMOMO-työryhmä toimii modernismin arkkitehtuurin asiantuntijaorganisaationa. Se välittää tietoa sekä kansainvälisiä yhteyksiä koskien omaa aihepiiriään. Työryhmä järjestää modernin arkkitehtuurin teemakävelyjä, pitää esitelmiä ja tukee alansa julkaisutoimintaa. Ryhmällä on myös edustaja ympäristöministeriön asettamassa rakennussuojelulain uudistamista valmistavassa työryhmässä. Keskeinen osa Suomen DOCOMOMO-työryhmän tiedotus- ja valistustehtävää on merkittävien arkkitehtuuri- ja ympäristökohteiden valikoiman ylläpitäminen. Valikoimassa on tällä hetkellä yli 60 kohdetta ja kokonaisuutta. Niitä esittelevää runsaasti kuvitettua julkaisua saa ostaa mm. Suomen rakennustaiteen museosta. Työryhmä tarkentaa ja laajentaa kohdevalikoimaa jatkuvasti. Kansainvälisen DOCOMOMO:n sekä Suomen työryhmän toiminta on avointa kaikille asiasta kiinnostuneille. DOCOMOMO (International Working Party for Documentation and Conservation of Buildings, Sites and Neighbourhoods of the Modern Movement), founded in 1989, is an international organization for the research and conservation of modern architecture. The organization currently comprises working parties from over 40 different countries, including Finland. The DOCOMOMO Finland working party acts as an expert organization for modern architecture in Finland. Its members include universities, museums and municipalities, as well as private individuals. DOCOMOMO procures information and international contacts within its own field of expertise. The working party supports publication activities within the field and organizes lectures and field trips to interesting sites of modern architecture. The working party also has a representative in the workgroup established by the Ministry of the Environment preparing the renewal of building conservation legislation. A central part of the information and public awareness-raising of the DOCOMOMO Finland working party is the collation of a list of important architectural and environmental sites. The list presently contains over 60 sites. An abundantly illustrated publication (available in English) presenting these sites can be obtained from, for instance, the Museum of Finnish Architecture. The working party continuously adjusts and extends the selection of sites. The activities of the international DOCOMOMO as well as the Finnish working party are open to anyone interested in the field.
